So Nate had the past two weeks off for Spring Break, and the week before that was “well, school’s out and we don’t have a plan, so... muddle along.” But now he’s back to school, and they’ve been hard at work to figure out online schooling. They’ve set up a learning platform, they’re doing class meetings over Google Hangouts, and my kid is a complete basket case. He does not do well with unclear expectations and with lots of logistical barriers to a learning exercise. So there were tears today. And shouting. And many declarations of “I can’t do this” and “I’m horrible at this” and “I’m going to be here until tomorrow working on this.”

Good reader, I’m sure it will come as a shock that he did in fact get his work done by 3, and that included all the wailing and gnashing of teeth. Hopefully now that he has seen that his teacher did not in fact set an impossible task, he’ll approach tomorrow with a bit less angst. But we’ll see. I was able to mostly take today off work to coach him, but I need to get some stuff done tomorrow. Blaaaaaaaah. Off to have a hard cider and start working on dinner. At least it was a beautiful day, and a very precocious daffodil is blooming in our yard. (I don’t know what its deal is - the rest are only buds and not even close to blooming.)

Our school hasn't yet started with the proper learning platform though they've hinted that they're working on it. (Though his teacher has been putting some assignments on google classroom.) Everything about this moment in time is hard, I swear.

Yay for cider and daffodils and sunshine, at least.
